Billie Lourd and Carrie Fisher Once Tried to Sneak Into a ‘Star Wars’ Showing

Lourd reveals her late mother also tried to attend a Comic-Con screening of ‘Scream Queens’ in mismatched socks and unbrushed hair: “Even then, everyone was like, ‘There’s Carrie Fisher!'”

THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER – “Hello from Copenhagen,” said Billie Lourd during a phone interview Dec. 28, a day after the one-year anniversary of her mother Carrie Fisher’s death, which she honored by visiting the northern lights in Norway with her father, CAA’s Bryan Lourd, and stepfather, Bruce Bozzi. (“My momby had an otherworldly obsession with the northern lights, but I never got to see them with her,” Billie shared on Instagram.)

On the heels of her appearance in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Billie volunteered a memory of how she and her mother tried to sneak incognito into a showing of 2015’s The Force Awakens. “No chance,” she said, laughing, adding that Fisher once tried to attend a Comic-Con screening of Scream Queens to see her daughter’s TV debut. “She showed up with mismatched socks and hadn’t brushed her hair, and even then, everyone was like, ‘There’s Carrie Fisher!'”

The 25-year-old actress — a judge alongside Last Jedi co-star Laura Dern at the third Moet Moment Film Festival, opening Jan. 5 in West Hollywood — also twice paid tribute to Fisher on the red carpet this year. For the Star Wars Celebration in April in Orlando, she donned a flowy white number, and she wore a disco ball-like column gown for the Last Jedi December premiere, both looks courtesy of designer Tom Ford and stylist Jamie Mizrahi. Said Lourd: “One was dedicated to the classic white dress she wore and the other a nod to the hologram” Princess Leia sent to Obi-Wan Kenobi.
